Why use Soy wax?
Soy wax is the healthier alternative when burning candles. Soy wax is 100% natural, as it is a
derivative product from Soybean & a vegetable oil. Soy wax is biodegradable & non-toxic. Soy
wax burns up to 50% longer than Paraffin candles due to the lower temperature in which they
burn. They burn completely, and don’t emit black soot. Due to the process in which we make our
candles the fragrance lasts all the way through while burning. We support the Farmer not the Oil
industries. Soy wax, if spilt, is easier to clean. Soap & water will do the trick.
(Please note- if a tint has been used to Colours the wax of your candle, please treat as you would
any other colorants.)
What makes Soy-renity Candles different from most other candle
companies?
At Soy-renity Candles, our aim is to offer a personal service where we make the candle you want.
You decide on glassware, fragrance & tint. You create the candle to your individual likes and
needs. You are not stuck with a bright blue candle with a fragrance that you love. You know what
will suit your dinner table, or your bathroom, or your Nanna Jo who has very specific tastes.
We also offer a refilling service, at a very discounted price, so that you are not left with lots of
empty glass wear.
Soy-renity Candles are presently only available through Party Plan, Individual sales
and via our Website. (Website due to go live 08/08/09)
What does hand poured mean?
It means that every Candle, Melt and T-light made by Soy-renity Candles is
individually handmade. There are no mass producing machines.
The majority of the candles we make are made to order, just for you, so each one is quite unique.
What is the difference between a Essential Oil & a Fragrance?
Essential Oils are an aroma compound derived from a plant, or a plant essence oil.
Fragrances are a combination of synthetic and natural aroma chemicals blended to create
scented oils for use in candles, bath products and other aroma products.
**Please note that by adding a Fragrance the candle is no longer 100% natural.
Final formulas are a trade secret.
What is Wax tinting?
Wax tinting is where we tint the natural soy wax with a dye chip. The natural colours of Soy wax is a
milky white colours The tint chips are a mix of soy wax and synthetic colours powders.
They are available in red, green, lime, peach, pink, blue, light brown, lavender, orange, violet, black
and yellow. When ordering please specify what shade you would like e.g. Dark, Medium or Light.
**Please note that by adding a tint the candle is no longer 100% natural.
Why don’t you sell pillar candles?
Natural Soy is a soft wax, and when heated it liquefies, therefore would not hold the shape
of a pillar candle, unless other types of wax are introduced into the mix e.g. Paraffin/petroleum or
Palm wax. When the wax is melting it should melt evenly, so no wax is wasted.
Once cooled the wax reforms and is ready to be melted again.
What do you mean by burning time?
A burn time is the estimated time given to a specific candle in which the candle and wick
are burnt through. These times also may vary due to the temperature & conditions of the room.
Rule of thumb is that they should burn for at least 1 hour to every 2.5cm in diameter. They are
extinguished, trimmed to a 6mm then relit. The wider the candle, the longer it needs to be burnt,
each time. This helps larger candles to burn across their entire width. We do highly recommend
that you leave 1cm of wax in the bottom of the containers to prevent the glass
becoming too hot & may crack.
What are the markings that appear on some of the containers?
There are two types of markings that can appear on the sides of the containers. They are called
“Frosting” or “Frost lines” and the other is “Wet spots” or “Delamination”. Soy Candles are more
sensitive to temperatures than your traditional Paraffin candles.
Frosting is described as white, chalky marks that can appear on the surface of the candle.
Frosting can be quite common where a tint has been used, predominantly with
the primary colours.
Wet spots or Delamination is where the wax has stuck to the glass in a certain area,
and appears as a wet spot, though it is actually not wet.
All effort is made to reduce these markings, by pouring at appropriate temperatures and by slowing
the cooling process, though unfortunately this is just a characteristic of Soy wax. You may notice
these markings on many of the other larger container candle companies.
Some companies may mix in other types of waxes such as Petroleum, Palm or Bees wax,
to try and eradicate this problem.
Soy-renity Candles prefers to keep our candles as natural as possible.
Please be assured that, in no way, does any of these markings effect the quality of the scent
or effect the burning of our candles.
